In 2023 we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the NYMR on 1st May 1973 by the Duchess of Kent. This year's Autumn Steam Gala was held over four days in September. Three visiting locos attended; A4 No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley'; Caledonian Tank No. 55189 from Bo'ness and BR Standard 4 No. 75069 from the SVR. Resident standard 80136 was renumbered to 80116 to represent the last loco to run between Whitby and Middlesbrough in 1958. The gala was a first for NYMR with double headed 9Fs 92114 and 92134. J27 was repainted into LNER livery No. 2932 a few days before the gala. Lucie No. 8 made her first paying passenger run to Goathland with the Beer Shuttle.
