Dapol 00 Gauge NYMR Milk Tanker

The 6 wheel milk tanker was developed in the 1930’s from the 4 wheel milk tanker. This new version provided much better stability at speed and was used extensively right up to the early 1980’s. Several survive into preservation, including the Express Dairy Milk Tank Wagon - which is currently in preservation on NYMR.

Built in 1952 by BR Derby. A major overhaul of this wagon was completed in 2014. From some records provided by a former member of the Wagon Group, it was shown as operating from St. Erth (Cornwall) to Morden (S.W. London), for the Express Dairy Company. Calculations have shown it carried around 5 million gallons of milk during it's time on British Railways.
