The North Yorkshire Moors Railway - Amberley

A pictorial tour of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. By Colin Alexander and Mark Cessford. The journey commences at the market toen of Pickering and continues through remote Levisham and into the spectacular glaciated gorge of Newtondale and onto Feb Bog. Once over the summit at Goathland, the line decends sharply into Goathland Station and then drops at a continuous gradient of 1 in 49 to Grosmont, site of the busy engine sheds.
