This British Railways Totem Cap Badge is made in the Rev Gomm Birmingham factory. It is an exact replica of those worn on workers uniforms. Supplied with a shank fixing and a cotter pin for attaching to standard Railway Caps. Following the nationalisation of the Railways in 1948, the totem was introduced as an instantly recognised insignia of the British Railways. Each Region was represented by a specific Totem colour.
